About the Author
Jeffrey A. Kottler, PhD, is one of the most prolific authors in the fields of psychology and education, having written over 80 books about a wide range of subjects, many of them featuring his lifelong interest in therapists' inner experience and path to excellence. Jeffrey has authored more than a dozen texts for counselors and therapists that are used in universities around the world and a dozen books each for practicing therapists and educators, many of which represent stories of seminal change. His books have been translated into more than two dozen languages. Some of Jeffrey's most popular books include On Being a Therapist, Learning Group Leadership, Change: What Leads to Personal Transformation, Divine Madness, The Therapist's Workbook, and On Being a Master Therapist: Practicing What We Preach. As a result, some soldiers adapted the rhetoric of Manifest Destiny to their own purposes, taking for themselves what had been promised, often by looting the Mexican countryside or committing racial and sexual atrocities. Others deserted the army to fight for the enemy or seek employment in the West. These acts, Foos argues, along with the government's tacit acceptance of them, translated into a more violent, damaging variety of Manifest Destiny.

Dieter Sevin, a native of Germany, was Professor of German at Vanderbilt University. He received grants from organizations such as the American Philosophical Association, American Council of Learned Societies, German Academic Exchange Service, and the Vanderbilt Research Council.

Ingrid Sevin, a native of Germany, has been teaching German and French at the high school and college level in the United States and in Germany for more than ten years. From 1987 to 2002, she was the editor of the German audio-magazine SCHAU INS LAND.

Beatrix Brockman, a native of Germany, is Assistant Professor of Languages and Literature at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN. She received her BA in Translations from the Institut für Fremdsprachen und Auslandskunde bei der Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, her BA and MA in English from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN and her PhD in German from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. I own both this book and Mr. Kelby's Lightroom CC book for digital photographers; they are both very instructive and I have learned a lot from both of them. The regular Lightroom CC book is best for learning Lightroom inside and out, but this book as most of the reviews attest is best for quickly finding out how to perform loads of important and useful editing tasks quickly without having to search for and read material that you don't need right then. Some people don't like Mr. Kelby's humor, but I enjoy reading the chapter intros very much--he does have an unusual sense of humor. But he is an excellent teacher, and I really feel that a person does not have to be a Lightroom expert at all to benefit from this book. If you can navigate about the software a bit and import pictures, you can gradually learn Lightroom just by using these tips.

This is a thorough, easily understandable and entertaining text for anyone working in Lightroom. Of course, since it is a hard copy book, some of the information becomes immediately obsolete when your computer or software updates. However, it is good to have this reference handy when you can't figure out how to do something quickly. The help function in the Lightroom software is often incomplete and/or unclear and video-based or workshop classes are expensive, time-consuming and overwhelmingly boring. I highly recommend this reference book over other, more cumbersome and less user-friendly tomes. If you buy and use it PLEASE send the author a note if you find information that is incorrect, obsolete or confusing. He seems interested in keeping the book up-to-date for future editions. ​

Great little guide to have handy as you're learning LR or as a reference for things you don't use or do often and can't remember how to do. I like Scott's writing style, he injects humor and snarkiness in his manuals, which breaks up the "text book" style and helps make some of the subject matter less intimidating. This book is small but full of lots of great tips and shortcuts. I knew how to do some of the things covered, but knowing the shortcut keys to press makes culling and photo editing a bit faster.

Finally, THE book I've been looking for! I've bought huge numbers of books and courses, also videos on Lightroom. This is the ONE that I've been looking for. Thank you for writing a simple no flowery nonsense, get to the point and simplified writeup.

I am a fan of Scott Kelby and use his books routinely. I bought this for Lightroom and its companion for Photoshop. A bit disappointing. A good index, which his other books have, will generally give the answer you are seeking. A Google search is quick and better at answering a "how do I do" than these books. I find that even having the books right at my computer, its easier and generally more informative to use Google rather than these books.

The author is incredibly chatty, likes to tell stories/jokes.. would be ok for some books , but not for a “how to” . I’m looking for how to: step-by-step nstructions, with maybe some sidebars, hints, etc. along the way. (There is no Lightroom for Dummes.) The how to’s are written as paragraphs - bulletizing would’ve worked better. When I tried to follow instructions, they really didn’t work. Export: cmd-shift-E? Nope! Oh, I have to choose format first. How do I do that ...

This is a book I use as a reference. If I do not know how to do something in Lr, I can pick up this small book and find the answer. I used to do what the book does for me now on my own. I would have a task I needed to do (or a problem solved), I looked it up online or resolved it in the help literature and then wrote down the procedure used to resolve it. Now, this book makes the process a lot faster...and the book is indexed. I plan on purchasing the one for Photoshop as well. Does it answer all questions a person might have? Probably not but It does answer the most common questions of "How do I do that...?".

An excellent guidebook; it clearly explains the procedures in using Adobe Lightroom, and illustrates each one with screen shots of that procedure. I strongly recommend it: and, even if it sounds trivial, the size of the book is an ideal compromise between that needed to display the text/illustration and the space available adjacent to keyboard and/or tablet or touchpad on most desktops. A five-star rating.
